Hours
Regular one day a week (Monday or Friday - to be negotiated) alongside two other Forest School workers, plus approximately 3 additional days per year during school holidays and weekends. The role also includes associated meetings, training, and supervision.

Salary
£16.00 per hour, paid throughout 11 months of the year including statutory holiday pay. Opportunity to enrol in Wild Things staff pension scheme. Permanent contract with a 6-12 month probationary period.

About the Role
Wild Things is seeking a passionate Forest School Worker to join their team delivering woodland-based sessions primarily to primary school aged children. You will plan and deliver Forest School sessions in a natural woodland setting, working collaboratively with other team members. The role involves physical tasks such as pulling trailers of equipment up hills, setting up sites, moving wood, and navigating hilly terrain. You will also participate in meetings, training, and supervision. Wild Things specialises in working with under-resourced communities facing complex barriers to wellbeing and inclusion, aiming to provide access to the natural world for those who might otherwise miss out.

Requirements

Experience
Experience working with children and young people, preferably in a woodland or natural setting. Previous experience supporting individuals who have experienced trauma is desirable. Basic understanding of trauma and associated behaviours is beneficial.

Child-centred approach with an understanding of the benefits of play and learning in nature. Awareness of social and economic inequalities and their impact on behaviour. Calm in crisis, patient, flexible, punctual, reliable, and committed. Strong group management skills and ability to work collaboratively in a non-hierarchical mutual aid collective. Physically able and willing to engage with demanding outdoor tasks. Must have no behaviours, charges, or convictions that would affect suitability to work with children or vulnerable adults. Willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications
A Forest School qualification is desirable but not essential.
