About the Role
As part of the Gardening team at HC-One, you will undertake gardening duties at your Care Home and maintain the gardens and grounds to the highest standard to help HC-One become the First Choice Care Home in the community. You will be responsive and flexible to the changing needs of the Homes. Your responsibilities will include general gardening duties such as planting seasonal foliage, grass-cutting, pruning shrubs, watering hanging baskets, weed eradication, and tidying pathways, walkways, and driveways within the care home grounds. You will maintain gardening machinery and tools, performing tests and checks as required by HC-One. Additionally, you will be responsible for painting and maintaining all external fencing and garden furniture. Working closely with the estates team, you will also undertake salt gritting and snow clearance as needed.

Safeguarding is a key part of this role; you will be expected to recognise signs of possible abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to report any concerns appropriately. You will complete mandatory and specialist training to maintain and update your professional knowledge and competence. Effective communication with Residents, the Home Manager, colleagues, and visitors is essential.

Experience
Previous gardening experience is beneficial but not essential as full training will be provided.

About you
You will understand and ensure the implementation of the Care Home’s Health and Safety policy and Emergency and Fire procedures. You must be flexible, reliable, and able to work across multiple care homes. A full UK driving licence is required as a company vehicle will be provided. You will be able to engage effectively with Residents, colleagues, and visitors and demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
