About the Role
As a Gardener at Morden College, you will assist the Gardens Manager in maintaining the gardens and grounds at Ralph Perring Court in Beckenham and, when required, at Blackheath. Your role is vital in ensuring these outdoor spaces remain safe, attractive, and promote the wellbeing of our residents. You will be involved in a variety of hands-on gardening activities including mowing, edging, scarifying lawns, maintaining fine turf and sports areas, planting and pruning shrubs and trees, rose care, leaf clearing, and soft landscaping. You will also apply lawn fertilisers, use watering equipment, carry out hedge trimming, basic brick edging, laying slabs, and maintain horticultural machinery and tools. This role supports the creation of thriving, welcoming outdoor environments that enhance the quality of life for our older residents.

Experience
A minimum of 3 years practical experience in horticulture is essential.

About you
You should be skilled in horticultural practices and passionate about maintaining high-quality gardens. You will be reliable, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Forward planning skills and the ability to contribute to garden and grounds maintenance planning are important. Experience with machinery use, soft landscaping, and garden planning is highly desirable.

Qualifications
Essential:
- C&G Stage 2 Amenity Horticulture or RHS Certificate Horticulture Level 2 Practical and Theory or NVQ Level 3 Amenity Horticulture
Desirable:
- Chainsaw certificate
- Mixing and use of chemicals certificate
- Spraying certificate
- Health & Safety certificate
