About the Role
We are looking for a highly knowledgeable Gardener with bags of energy, a passion for the outdoors and the desire to be the best, to join our Gardens and Maintenance team at The Barnsdale, Rutland. Our 46-bedroom hotel overlooks the beautiful Rutland landscape with a picturesque courtyard, supported by a kitchen brigade providing fine dining using many ingredients sourced from the wealth of fine produce found locally. Encircled by idyllic surroundings on the north shore of Rutland Water, the hotel is a tranquil rural haven close to the charming market towns of Oakham and Uppingham.

As part of your role, you will maintain a professional and outgoing approach to all the hotel’s exteriors, attend internal team meetings as required, and be comfortable leading a small team including Assistant Gardeners or Maintenance Assistants. You will demonstrate a passion for plants and horticulture, with strong knowledge of plant care, pruning and maintenance, and a broad understanding of garden machinery with some proficiency in operating it. Being a motivated team player with a positive 'can do' attitude is essential, as is a willingness to learn and get involved with a wide range of tasks.
Experience
1-2 years’ gardening experience across hotels or private residences.
About you
Passionate about plants and horticulture, with a professional and outgoing approach. Comfortable leading and delegating within a small team. Motivated, positive attitude and a team player willing to learn and engage in diverse tasks. Broad understanding of garden machinery and some proficiency in operating it.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications required, but relevant horticultural knowledge and experience are essential. Willingness to undertake further training and development opportunities provided by the company.
