About the Role
Waythrough values its volunteers and strives to ensure their roles are rewarding and beneficial. This role supports Barnsley Thrive, working with people over 25 from the Barnsley area who are homeless and have complex needs. Support is provided across three sites with varying levels of assistance. Tasks may include tending to the garden regularly, planting, weeding, general tidying, general DIY and decorating jobs as agreed with the Project Manager, and using equipment safely in line with risk assessments. Volunteers will also facilitate resident activities, assist with identifying and applying for grants to support DIY projects and external activities, and deliver findings where appropriate. Volunteers must comply with safeguarding policies, report any concerns immediately, work within professional boundaries, and engage in supervision and mandatory training.
Training
Volunteers are required to attend a one-day induction workshop prior to starting, available online or in person. After starting, volunteers have access to an online training platform and may be asked to complete relevant training modules within the first three months.
