Location
South London Botanical Institute, Tulse Hill, South London with other locations for in-person meetings and workshops off site. Flexible working supported with scope to work from home approximately 1 day per week.

Hours
4 days a week based on a 35-hour week. Occasional weekends and evenings expected. Time Off in Lieu policy applies.

Salary
£37,000 per annum

About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised, proactive, hands-on, collaborative and creative General Operations Manager to strengthen our operational resilience and support organisational growth. This role combines strategic oversight with active involvement in day-to-day operational delivery. Responsibilities include care and coordination of our building, collections, systems, and income-generating hires, alongside supporting financial processes, communications, staffing matters, and contributing to the smooth running of the organisation. As a small, ambitious building-based charity working at the intersection of plant knowledge, peer-to-peer learning, heritage and climate organising, this role requires both leadership and on-the-ground support. An enhanced DBS check is required for this position.

The South London Botanical Institute (SLBI) is a unique centre for urban botany located in the heart of Tulse Hill. We are a community learning space dedicated to connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with plants through inclusive, experiential and intergenerational learning that blends botany, creative practice, and grassroots organising. Our mission is to champion the vital role of plants in sustaining life, emboldening communities, and addressing the climate and biodiversity crises.

Experience
Proven experience in operational management, ideally within a small or charitable organisation. Experience balancing strategic leadership with hands-on operational delivery is essential.
