About the Role
As a recent graduate, you will support sustainability initiatives across the OCU Group by assisting with data collection and analysis, and contributing to ensuring projects operate in line with environmental legislation, client requirements, and the company’s Sustainability Strategy. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability & Environment, this entry-level role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and grow within the utilities sector while promoting sustainable construction practices.
Your duties will include assisting in the implementation of sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and social value; preparing sustainability reports and ensuring compliance with frameworks like TCFD and CDP; tracking and analysing key sustainability metrics including carbon footprint, energy usage, waste reduction, and water consumption; supporting compliance with certifications such as ISO14001, EcoVadis, and CDP; developing guidance and processes to improve environmental management; conducting research on sustainable construction methods and technologies; monitoring environmental performance on project sites; organising sustainability awareness programmes and training; collaborating with cross-functional teams; assisting pre-construction teams with environmental obligations; maintaining accurate sustainability records; and supporting environmental audits and assessments.

Experience
- Relevant degree such as Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, or Environmental Engineering
- Graduate IEMA preferred
- Basic understanding of sustainability principles and ESG practices
- Familiarity with environmental and sustainability practices within utilities or construction sectors
- Basic knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and ISO14001
- Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and present findings clearly
- Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams

- Innovative problem solver with the ability to identify sustainability challenges and propose solutions
- Willingness and ability to travel within the UK as required
- Valid driving licence
