Hours
Part-time role working 7.5 hours per week, equivalent to one day per week. The working day will be between Monday and Friday with a 7:30am start; the exact day to be confirmed. Salary
Starting salary of £5,175 per annum.

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team in Blackburn. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of grounds maintenance tasks including grass mowing, strimming, hedge and shrub cutting, litter picking, and herbicide spraying. You will also carry out regular inspections and upkeep of playgrounds and play equipment, helping to create safe and pleasant spaces for residents and visitors.

Key duties include:
- Acting as a point of contact for residents, responding to queries and liaising with colleagues to provide excellent customer service.
- Operating a range of equipment such as strimmers, pedestrian mowers, ride-on mowers, hedge trimmers, loppers, pole-saws, and chainsaws (ground based).
- Carrying out edging, herbicide/pesticide applications, pruning, clearing arisings, seeding, turfing, planting, and other horticultural tasks.
- Litter picking and clearing rubbish from landscaped areas.
- Inspecting, clearing, tidying, mowing, strimming, and making safe play areas and equipment, including minor repairs.
- Inspecting all areas for hazards, damage, defects, and graffiti; making safe or reporting issues.
- Recording work completed using manual or digital systems and reporting any uncompleted tasks or site issues with relevant details and photos.

Experience
Practical experience working in a grounds maintenance environment is required. Experience operating grounds maintenance equipment and machinery is essential. Experience working in a customer-oriented environment, able to deal with the public firmly but sympathetically, is also important.

About you
You will have a good standard of literacy and numeracy to enable accurate record keeping. You must hold a full manual UK driving licence. You should be reliable, customer-focused, and able to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

No formal qualifications are specified; however, a full manual UK driving licence is required. A willingness to work safely and follow procedures is essential.
