About the Role
The Group EHS & Sustainability Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) and Sustainability across the Novacyt Group. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Company's global EHS and sustainability framework, ensuring compliance with legislation, industry standards, and best practices across all Novacyt sites worldwide. You will lead and coordinate all aspects of occupational health and safety, environmental management, COSHH, fire safety, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, energy, carbon, waste, and resource efficiency across laboratory, manufacturing, warehouse, office, and field-based operations.

The role involves establishing and continually improving Group EHS and environmental management systems, policies, minimum standards, processes, training, communications, and performance measures to ensure a safe, healthy, compliant, and environmentally responsible working environment. You will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer, Senior Leadership Team, site management teams, regulatory authorities, and external partners to promote a proactive safety and sustainability culture, support operational excellence, and maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems across the Group.

Key responsibilities include leading incident investigations, managing contractor safety, coordinating risk and COSHH assessments, driving EHS training programmes, maintaining compliance registers, and supporting occupational health and wellbeing initiatives. You will also develop and maintain the Group environmental and sustainability strategy, lead energy and carbon reduction initiatives, coordinate environmental data collection and reporting, and prepare performance reports for senior leadership and the Board.

This role requires functional authority to enforce corrective actions, escalate significant risks, and recommend cessation of unsafe activities. You will coordinate nominated EHS representatives at international sites and commission specialist external advice as needed.
