About the Role
Help shape Cheshire’s landscape for nature at a time when it urgently needs it. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference by working with farmers and landowners to create and restore high biodiversity value woodland and species-rich grassland. We are recruiting one person and are open to appointing at either Senior or Principal level.
As a Habitat Creation Officer, you will turn ambition for nature recovery into practical action on the ground. You will work closely with landowners, contractors and partners to design and implement habitat restoration schemes, providing technical expertise and project management.
The Senior Habitat Creation Officer will lead delivery of woodland and grassland creation projects, primarily based in the east of the county with travel across Cheshire.
The Principal Habitat Creation Officer will provide strategic and technical leadership, lead complex projects, shape future programmes, build partnerships, and act as the Trust’s principal source of expertise and technical assurance. This role is based at our Malpas HQ with travel across Cheshire.

Experience
Proven experience in habitat creation, woodland and grassland restoration, conservation and land management. Experience working with farmers, landowners, contractors and partners to deliver complex projects is essential.
Senior level applicants should demonstrate strong project management skills and technical expertise.
Principal level applicants should have strategic leadership experience and the ability to shape programmes and provide technical assurance.

You will be comfortable working outdoors and engaging with a range of stakeholders including farmers and landowners. You will have strong knowledge of farming systems and nature-friendly approaches, with the judgement to translate knowledge into practical action. You are motivated to drive nature recovery and able to maintain momentum through complex projects.
You will be adaptable, collaborative and committed to the Trust’s vision of nature in recovery by 2030.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in ecology, conservation, land management or a related discipline are desirable but not essential. A full UK driving licence is likely required due to travel across Cheshire.
