About the Role
This newly shaped role combines external communications, community management, and website oversight to support UK Youth for Nature's growth and impact. You will develop and deliver communications strategies across traditional media and social media, build relationships with journalists, lead content creation, and represent the organisation publicly. You will manage and maintain the website, ensuring content is current, on-brand, and aligned with campaigns. Additionally, you will lead community management to engage and grow UKY4N's online audience. As a leader within the organisation, you will contribute to team meetings, manage freelance communications support, and help set an example for volunteers and staff. This role offers the opportunity to shape UKY4N’s public voice and digital presence during a significant scale-up period.
Experience
- Traditional media, PR, and press office experience including pitching journalists, writing press releases, and securing coverage
- Strong understanding of social media strategy and content across multiple platforms
- Experience managing and updating websites, including publishing blog or content updates via CMS platforms such as WordPress, Squarespace, or Wix
- Experience in community management both online (moderating platforms, growing engaged audiences) and offline (volunteer or member engagement)
- Ability to work independently
Desired
- Experience or interest in communications supporting fundraising, corporate partnerships, or grant relationships
- Experience managing or supporting volunteers including onboarding, training, or recognition programmes
- Interest or experience in line managing a team member
- Confident public speaker comfortable with media interviews and public representation
- Good understanding of environmental or youth policy sectors
- Basic design skills (e.g. Canva) for website and social content
About You
You are a confident communicator and leader who can balance being a public voice for UK Youth for Nature with managing and growing its digital and community presence. You are organised, proactive, and able to make decisions while fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for volunteers and staff. Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends is required. Familiarity with Slack and Google Drive is beneficial.
