About the Role
The Head of Internal Communications will play a vital role in enabling and developing an engaged culture built on excellent communication practices, tools and channels. You will lead the internal communication group, supporting delivery of the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) strategy by developing and embedding a clear, consistent and meaningful strategic narrative for all internal audiences. This position involves supporting the senior leadership team’s internal communication and championing the NOC value of working in partnership by fostering collaborative working across all functions. Working Arrangements
This role is based in Southampton, with excellent public transport links and ample cycle parking. We operate a hybrid working approach allowing staff to work from home up to 2 days per week. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
Experience
Proven track record managing an internal communications function. Experience creating strategies to engage a geographically dispersed and "deskless" workforce. Ability to translate complex subject matter into effective internal communications. Experience leading, mentoring and developing a team. Skilled in coaching senior leadership to become visible and vocal owners of organisational strategy.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in communications or related fields are desirable but not explicitly stated. A commitment to diversity and inclusion and the ability to work within an equitable and supportive environment is essential.
