About the Role
Are you a Facilities specialist wanting to save the planet? We are recruiting a versatile Health, Safety and Facilities Manager to join our Infrastructure Services team on a fixed term contract covering maternity leave until December 2026. In this role, you will provide efficient facilities management and Health & Safety services for Friends of the Earth’s offices, workspaces, staff and volunteers. You will manage a broad range of facilities across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and delivering excellent service. You will work closely with and manage the Facilities Assistant and be part of the vital Infrastructure team within the Finance and Operations Directorate. The Infrastructure team is responsible for the physical and virtual platforms supporting our work, including premises, networks, servers and Service Desk support.
As a key holder for our offices, you must be prepared to be on call in emergencies. Occasional UK travel with overnight stays may be required. Experience
- Practical experience of a broad range of facilities management tasks, including hard and soft facilities across multiple sites
- Management of third-party contractors using method statements, risk assessments and permit to work schemes
- Proven ability to improve supplier value through contract review, market research and negotiation
- Experience communicating effectively and building strong relationships with diverse individuals and groups, including challenging clients
- Ability to safely perform equipment installation, elementary repairs and manage office apparatus movement
- Experience leading projects and providing training within a facilities context

Qualifications
- Entry level Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent is essential
- Working towards or holding a NEBOSH qualification is desirable
- Up-to-date knowledge of current health and safety legislation and experience carrying out Risk Assessments, DSE Assessments and similar evaluations
