About the Role
We are recruiting for Horticulture Apprentices, offering a fantastic opportunity to grow and develop your skills whilst working at historic sites. Most of your apprenticeship will be spent working on the job, gaining hands-on experience within a horticultural environment alongside our experienced and dedicated Gardens Team. You will develop practical skills and horticultural knowledge while studying towards a Level 2 Horticulture or Landscape Construction Operative qualification over a 2-year period.
As an apprentice, you will be involved in planting and maintaining flower beds, shrubs, trees, and perennials; hedge cutting, light pruning, and trimming; understanding and responding to climate change and sustainability challenges; identifying and recognising a selection of basic plants; using a wide range of horticultural and agricultural equipment and machinery; participating in soft landscaping projects and garden construction improvements; becoming familiar with the general history of Hampton Court Palace; and interacting with customers and visitors to enhance their experience. You may also undertake other relevant activities as directed by your Line Manager.
Experience
Previous gardening experience and recognition of basic plants is beneficial but not essential. The apprenticeship can be tailored to reflect any relevant qualifications or industry experience you already have.
