About the Role
Our Horticulture Managers play an essential role in delivering an outstanding customer experience across our stores. You will drive sales, promote customer loyalty, provide expert plant advice, and maintain high department standards. Working alongside the general manager, you will help set the benchmark within our flagship horticulture department.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the horticulture department operations to maximise profitable sales and growth while creating a unique customer-focused environment. You will provide expert advice and guidance on plant care, maintenance, and core gardening products. Inspiring your team’s passion, you will create a brilliant customer journey and experience.

Collaboration is key, so you will work closely with our central support teams, maintaining excellent communication to improve our business. You will ensure all health & safety regulations are adhered to across the store, caring for both employee and customer welfare. As a member of the senior management team, you will also have duty manager responsibilities including key holder duties.

At Dobbies, we champion garden living all year round and pride ourselves on a thriving culture where the team is passionate, diverse, and committed to making it work for our customers.

Requirements

Experience
You will bring strong horticultural expertise combined with retail management experience. Commercial awareness is essential, including understanding budgets, profitability through driving sales, and identifying improved ways of working.

About you
You will have the ability to identify training needs and effectively coach and train all levels of staff to deliver a first-class customer experience and maintain a safe centre environment. Adaptability is key; you will act quickly and enthusiastically to changing priorities, workloads, and new regulations or requirements. You will positively manage change, leading your team through each season with care and motivation to deliver the best results.

You must demonstrate our values at all times: we are one team, getting better every day. We bring a smile. We live and breathe gardens. We make it work for our customers.
