As a Household Reuse and Recycling Centre (HRRC) Operative, you will act as the first point of contact to the public, providing a professional service by giving advice, direction, and assistance, ensuring that waste is received and deposited correctly.

Your key responsibilities will include controlling the receipt and segregation of Black Bag waste received, engaging with commercial customers as well as members of the public; directing and controlling the loading and transfer of waste, recyclable and reusable materials to final disposal points; carrying out general site duties including housekeeping of site grounds, buildings and staff facilities; operating the weighbridge when required; and actively participating in a full range of recycling and reuse activities and initiatives.

When trained, you will also operate a 360 grab and other mobile plant, carry out inspections and report defects of mobile plant, vehicles and other equipment.

Experience
Experience of dealing with a wide range of colleagues and customers using appropriate communication skills in responding to operational issues. Proven experience of effective contribution to team working. Demonstrable experience of ability to work effectively without direct supervision.

About you
Demonstrable understanding of health and safety and other associated relevant legislation. Ability to operate computerised weighbridge (training will be provided). Experience or ability to demonstrate suitability for physical work involving the lifting of weights up to 25 kg and manual handling including pushing/pulling waste bins.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications required; however, a commitment to health and safety and a willingness to learn and develop within the role are essential.
