About the Role
Wood PLC is seeking a passionate and result-focused HSSE Advisor to join its project management team supporting an EPCm Services contract on a Pharmaceutical Plant in Hertfordshire. This role involves managing HSE risks across a portfolio of projects with varying size and complexity in a highly regulated environment. The successful candidate will provide timely advice and guidance on Health, Safety, and Environmental matters in line with legislation, company policy, and client requirements to ensure risks are identified and mitigated. Reporting to the contract-based HSSE Manager and working within the Wood UK Operations HSSE Team, you will benefit from a strong support network and opportunities for training, development, and career progression within a global organisation. Key Responsibilities
- Support management in developing and maintaining a contract-level HSE risks and opportunities register and ensure control measures are implemented.
- Assist in establishing HSE objectives and targets and monitor performance against agreed metrics.
- Support the development, communication, and implementation of an effective HSE Execution Plan.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements including CDM Regulations.
- Identify and address HSE interface requirements during construction.
- Assist in developing and coordinating Construction Phase Plans.
- Conduct periodic HSE performance reviews and report findings.
- Implement HSE improvement actions as directed.
- Coordinate audit program implementation and capture improvement opportunities.
- Support incident investigations and ensure appropriate reporting and learning.
- Support task risk assessments, method statements, and health risk assessments.
- Ensure environmental impacts are minimized through effective controls.
- Ensure emergency response arrangements are in place and communicated.
- Build positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and employee HSE representatives.
- Participate in project HSE meetings, workshops, and forums.
- Promote workforce involvement in HSE activities and initiatives.
- Assist in identifying HSSE training needs and monitor delivery.
- Support safety recognition programs and project stage gate safety matters.

Experience
- Post-qualification experience in a technical or HSE role, preferably within a highly regulated sector.
- Experience working on construction projects and familiarity with pharmaceutical environments is beneficial.
- Knowledge of HSE regulations including CDM and Good Manufacturing Practice.
- Experience with investigation techniques and applying them effectively.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- NVQ Level 4
- IOSH (desirable)
- C&G, ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSE or related industry
