About the Role
The Environment Agency plays a vital role in protecting and enhancing the environment to create a cleaner, safer, and healthier place for people and wildlife. Water is central to everything we do, and with East Anglia being the driest part of the country, groundwater resources are under increasing pressure due to population growth and intensive agriculture. As a Hydrogeologist Officer within the Groundwater and Contaminated Land Team, you will provide specialist hydrogeological expertise to support sustainable water resource management across the region. Your workstreams may include determining groundwater abstraction licensing proposals, contributing to catchment-based water management plans, responding to external enquiries, and supporting internal teams with hydrogeological data and advice. This role involves office-based work with occasional external meetings, training, and site visits. You will collaborate with colleagues across the Environment Agency to help shape the future of water resource management in East Anglia and contribute to nationally significant environmental outcomes. You will also have an incident response role, supporting business continuity during incidents with full training and potential additional payment. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside passionate professionals and make a real difference in a region where groundwater is essential to both people and the environment.

Benefits
A generous pension scheme of 19%
Overtime opportunities through standby and incident pay
25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays for full-time employees
Two additional paid environmental outcome days to participate in community activities
Great career development opportunities
Maternity, paternity, and adoption leave schemes
Flexible and/or part-time working options considered on a case-by-case basis

About you
A positive and motivated self-starter with a willingness to learn.
