About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual to join the Kent and South London area Installations team at the Environment Agency. You will work in a team where protecting the environment is the priority and the work is varied, challenging, and interesting. Your main responsibility will be the regulation of sites with Installations permits under the Environmental Permitting Regulations, primarily covering Landfill/Deposit for Recovery, Biowaste Treatment, and Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste treatment sites. The team also regulates sectors including Paper and Pulp, Combustion, Incineration, Chemicals, Food and Drink, and Oil/Gas.
Your duties will include ensuring permit compliance by conducting site inspections and audits to assess operators’ ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution, and optimise resources. You will analyse and interpret environmental monitoring and performance data, undertake enforcement and remediation actions for non-compliances and environmental incidents, and use your influencing and negotiating skills to promote best practice. You will collaborate with other regulatory bodies, authorities, and stakeholders, and engage with people at all levels within industry, local communities, and other interested groups. Additionally, you will participate in the assessment of and response to environmental incidents.

Experience
Experience in environmental regulation, compliance monitoring, or a related field is desirable but not explicitly stated. Enthusiasm and professionalism are essential.
