About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual to join the Kent and South London area Installations team within the Environment Agency. You will be part of a team where protecting the environment is the priority and the work is varied, challenging, and interesting. The role involves regulation of sites with Installations permits under the Environmental Permitting Regulations, primarily focusing on Landfill/Deposit for Recovery, Biowaste Treatment, and Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste treatment sites. The team also regulates sectors including Paper and Pulp, Combustion, Incineration, Chemicals, Food and Drink, and Oil/Gas.

Your responsibilities will include ensuring permit compliance by conducting site inspections and audits to assess operators’ ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution, and optimise resources. You will analyse and interpret environmental monitoring and performance data, undertake enforcement and remediation actions for non-compliances and environmental incidents, and use your influencing and negotiating skills to promote best practice. Collaboration with other regulatory bodies, authorities, and stakeholders is essential, as is engaging with people at all levels within industry, local communities, and other interested groups. Additionally, you will participate in the assessment of and response to environmental incidents.

Experience
