Description

Location
Fetcham, Surrey (KT22) with sites across London, the South East and further afield.

Hours
Full time, with some weeks spent away from home. When away, £50 per night plus meals are paid. Paid overtime is also available.

Salary
£42,000 – £49,000 per annum, plus company van and fuel card.

About the Role
You will run invasive weed excavation works on the ground, physically digging out Japanese knotweed, bamboo and other invasive species by hand and operating a 360 excavator. You will supervise a working gang of one to three agency operatives on each job. This is a hands-on supervisor role, involving active participation in excavation rather than administrative tasks. The work takes place across the country, usually within reach of home, but some weeks require overnight stays which are compensated.

Key Responsibilities
Site set-up and control including site arrival, exclusion zones, welfare, and plant positioning. Operate a 360 excavator (typically 3 to 8 tonnes) and work manually alongside the gang. Supervise, brief, direct and check the work of one to three agency operatives daily, including holding and recording toolbox talks. Carry out remediation works such as installing root barriers and membranes, backfilling and reinstating to specification. Control contamination by managing clean and dirty lines to segregate contaminated material properly. Manage waste duty of care including correct classification, loading, and completion of waste transfer or consignment paperwork under section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Ensure health and safety compliance by working to RAMS and COSHH assessments, stopping work if site conditions do not comply, and carrying out underground service checks before breaking ground. Complete daily plant checks under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, including quick-hitch and pre-use lifting checks. Photograph and record works to evidence the treatment plan and support the Grounds Care Group guarantee. Professionally liaise with clients or site contacts without committing the company on price or scope.
