About the Role
Most of what decides whether a habitat takes is done by hand. This role involves working on the tools every day to create and enhance habitats such as woodlands, wetlands and wildflower meadows, alongside general land maintenance and site restoration. You will be based at Quainton, working closely with ecologists, project managers and the site team. Your work will include establishing and maintaining habitats, planting, seeding and translocating native species in line with rewilding principles, and identifying and removing non-native or invasive species using manual, mechanical or chemical control as appropriate. You will construct and maintain habitat features such as ponds, hibernacula, wildlife corridors and pollinator banks, prepare land for conservation works including fencing, mulching, turf removal and ground levelling, and provide ongoing aftercare to ensure vegetation and habitats establish properly. Monitoring plant growth, soil health and ecological indicators to track habitat development and assisting with data collection for environmental reporting and project evaluation will also be part of your responsibilities.

Safe operation of landscaping tools and machinery including strimmers, brushcutters, chainsaws and hand tools is essential, along with regular equipment checks and basic maintenance. You will work collaboratively with ecologists, project managers and other field teams to deliver projects and communicate with clients, landowners and the public as needed. Strict adherence to health and safety procedures is required, including drug and alcohol testing where mandated by clients. The role supports sustainability goals and environmental standards, promoting biodiversity and carbon capture through land management practices.

- Good communication skills to liaise with team members, clients and landowners.
- Commitment to sustainability and environmental standards.

Qualifications
- Relevant tickets as above.
- Trailer towing experience is desirable.
- Involvement in habitat creation projects such as wildflower meadows, wetlands, woodland planting or pond creation is advantageous, with an understanding of the ecology behind them.
