About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Asset Manager to take overall responsibility for the operational, contractual, commercial, and financial performance of a portfolio of utility-scale solar assets. You will be the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring excellent service delivery while leading a team of Asset Managers and coordinating internal and external stakeholders to maximise asset performance, contractual compliance, and long-term value. This role combines technical, commercial, and leadership responsibilities, requiring a proactive approach to client management, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include managing client relationships, leading monthly and quarterly performance meetings, resolving client queries and escalations, and ensuring delivery of contracted services. You will coordinate teams and contractors to optimise production, monitor key operational KPIs, identify trends and implement corrective actions, support onboarding of new assets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Contract management duties involve overseeing all O&M contracts, reviewing risks and commercial implications, supporting renewals and amendments, and identifying opportunities to expand services and revenue. Financial management includes supporting OPEX budget preparation, monitoring costs, approving expenditure, and identifying commercial opportunities.
As a team leader, you will coach and support Asset Managers and Solar Analysts, act as senior escalation point, prioritise workloads, share knowledge, develop best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus, and operational excellence.
Success in this role is measured by operational performance, client relationship strength, team effectiveness, and the ability to identify opportunities that improve customer outcomes and business performance.
Experience
Proven experience managing the technical operations of solar assets or similar technologies. Demonstrated contract management skills with the ability to read, understand, and enforce contracts effectively. Strong analytical skills to manipulate and assess data for trends and patterns.
About you
Customer-oriented with excellent communication and negotiation skills at all levels, both written and verbal. Well prepared and organised with the ability to manage competing priorities, diverse workloads, and meet deadlines. Proactive leader who promotes collaboration, accountability, and professional development within teams.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management, or a relevant discipline preferred; however, significant relevant experience will also be considered. In-depth knowledge of solar technology, solar farm operations, SCADA systems, and UK HSE legislation. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Valid driving licence required due to travel demands.
