About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer in Built Environment and Sustainable Development to join our Building Services department at The Bedford College Group. You will play a key role in student success by planning, developing and delivering engaging programmes that align with learner progression and industry needs. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality teaching through varied, real-world learning activities, supporting learners to develop knowledge and life skills, and monitoring attendance, progress and behaviour to ensure achievement and positive conduct.
You will prepare schemes of work, learning resources and risk-assessed environments to ensure safe, well-managed classrooms and workshops. Collaboration with colleagues on course development, team activities and external engagement is essential, alongside upholding safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, health & safety, and continuous professional development standards.
This is a UK based contract requiring the Right to Work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available and employment offers are subject to evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.

Experience
Experience in assignment design, marking, progress tracking, and delivering engaging teaching across levels, ensuring learners meet targets and deadlines.

Highly organised with strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, Teams/ProMonitor). Able to manage learner groups effectively and maintain high standards of behaviour and achievement. Motivated, reflective, learner-focused, committed to safeguarding, continuous professional development and teamwork. Flexible to adapt to changing needs and work across College sites.
Strong understanding of personal development topics such as Safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and quality assurance processes within teaching and learning.
Qualifications
Level 3 specialist qualification with PGCE/Cert Ed, supported by commitment to achieving TAQA and developing expertise in Built Environment and Sustainable Development. If you do not hold a recognised teaching qualification, please refer to the attached PGCE CertEd information.
