About the Role
University College London (UCL) invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Sustainable and Resilient Cities as part of the Empower Ukraine Project. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction within the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 globally for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. This fixed-term, one-year role involves teaching, research, and programme administration aligned with the School’s vision and mission.

The Empower Ukraine Project is a capacity-building initiative led by UCL in partnership with Ukrainian universities and governmental bodies. It supports the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine’s higher education and infrastructure sectors through innovative teaching, research, and capacity-building activities. The project aims to strengthen academic capabilities, promote Eurocode-aligned engineering standards, and deliver world-class digital education to Ukrainian universities and professionals.

The postholder will contribute to designing, developing, and delivering modules in civil engineering, architecture, urban planning, resilient built environments, and digital urban systems within UCL’s framework of excellence. Fluency in both Ukrainian and English is essential for this role.

Requirements

Experience
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering courses or learning materials, preferably using Moodle or similar virtual learning environments.
- Strong track record in scholarship, research publications, and securing research funding.
- Experience in research or teaching in civil engineering, architecture, urban planning, or related disciplines.
- Proven ability to apply effective pedagogical approaches supporting student learning in online and blended environments.
- Excellent stakeholder liaison and public engagement skills.
- Ability to work harmoniously with staff and students from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications
- PhD in Civil Engineering or a relevant field.
