£53,220 per annum plus £12,678 employer contribution to Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme

This role is central to delivering one of Government’s top priorities: energy security and resilience.
The Energy Security and Resilience Directorate drives DESNZ and cross-Government efforts to maintain a resilient energy system in the short to medium term. You will lead delivery across energy security and resilience, working closely with policy experts, lawyers, industry stakeholders, senior leaders, and Ministers. Your responsibilities will include managing complex technical issues, preparing clear and robust briefings, overseeing governance of high-profile forums such as the ministerially chaired Energy Security and Resilience Taskforce, and maintaining oversight of team delivery needs.
This role offers the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of Parliamentary procedures and to take a strategic, forward-looking approach to support delivery of strategic objectives. You will also have line management responsibilities, including defining objectives, managing development and performance, and maintaining staff wellbeing. The role requires flexibility to respond to emergency work and urgent priorities.

Experience
- Proven ability to work proactively and collaboratively to develop strong relationships and deliver solutions to complex technical problems.
- Experience managing multiple workstreams and competing priorities efficiently and at pace.
- Skilled in building strong working relationships and working through others to deliver robust solutions and products.
- Effective communicator, confident in producing clear, accurate advice and briefings for senior leaders and Ministers on complex issues.
- Ability to work independently, anticipate challenges, and drive delivery through others, including managing at least one direct report.

Qualifications
- Security Check (SC) clearance required before starting in post.
