About the Role
SP Electricity North West manages and invests in the power network supplying electricity to 2.4 million homes and businesses across the North West. As part of the Iberdrola and ScottishPower group, we are building smarter, greener electricity networks to support sustainable growth.
Join our Low Carbon Technology Planning & Design Apprenticeship and play a key role in the transition to a greener future. You will gain hands-on experience supporting the connection of low carbon technologies such as electric vehicle charge points, heat pumps, and solar panels to our network.
As an apprentice, you will learn to:
- Assess customer applications for Low Carbon Technology (LCT) connections
- Carry out initial desktop feasibility studies
- Support network studies and assist in designing low voltage connections
- Prepare valuations and quotes for domestic LCT installations
- Ensure designs are cost-effective and compliant with technical standards
- Communicate proactively with customers and delivery partners
- Contribute to accurate forecasting and data integrity
- Deliver excellent customer service throughout the connection journey

Qualifications
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade 4-9 / A*-C) plus one of the following:
- Three A Levels (A*-C), including one STEM subject
- BTEC Level 3 National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Merit or Distinction)
- ONC in Electrical Engineering or similar (Merit or Distinction)
Experience
No specific prior experience required, but a keen interest in low carbon technologies and sustainable energy is essential.
