About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to begin a career in mechanical building services engineering. The apprenticeship combines hands-on experience with academic learning to develop the skills and qualifications required to design mechanical building services systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and Low Temperature Hot Water Systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to new projects while studying towards a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification in Building Services Engineering.

You will assist in the design and specification of mechanical systems for healthcare, commercial, and industrial buildings, support the creation of electrical layouts and schematics using CAD and BIM software, conduct site visits to assist with surveys and inspections, and participate in energy efficiency and sustainability assessments. Additional responsibilities include preparing reports, calculations, and documentation, collaborating with other engineering disciplines, maintaining accurate records, and attending client and team meetings.

As you progress, you will take on more complex design tasks, learn advanced software tools such as Revit MEP, IES, or Hevacomp, gain understanding of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA, Building Regulations), develop project management and client communication skills, and contribute to sustainability and innovation initiatives. There are opportunities for career progression and professional registration with engineering institutions such as CIBSE or IMechE upon successful completion.
