About the Role
Employed by London Borough of Camden, the Outreach & Engagement Officer will be based in North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other north London boroughs that make up its membership. This role offers the opportunity to work with local communities, influence environmentally friendly behaviour, and contribute to designing meaningful projects. You will plan and deliver community engagement projects involving workshops, activities, and events focused on NLWA’s waste prevention campaigns and the outreach aims of the constituent boroughs as part of the North London Joint Waste Strategy. The aim is to raise awareness of waste reduction, increase reuse, repair and recycling, and promote services available to residents.
You will provide information and activities through face-to-face engagement with audiences of varying knowledge on waste-related issues. The role covers a range of waste prevention topics such as food waste reduction through community challenges and stimulating waste prevention behaviours via nature-based sessions. You will also play a key role in delivering the annual North London Community Fund with not-for-profit organisations, briefing and overseeing contractors or project partners. Additionally, you will support monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
This position involves a mixture of desk-based and face-to-face work. Time management, organisation, and punctuality are essential. Flexibility to undertake other duties as required is expected. This is an exciting opportunity to build experience in scoping, developing, and planning initiatives that help reduce waste in north London.
