About the Role
This role places you at the core of post-authorisation surveillance of veterinary medicines in the UK, ensuring the ongoing assessment of the benefit-risk balance for veterinary medicinal products (VMPs). As a Veterinary Surgeon and senior member of the Pharmacovigilance (PhV) team, you will protect animal, environmental, and public health by continuously monitoring the efficacy and safety of VMPs throughout their lifecycle. You will lead a team of four direct reports, managing workstreams aligned with regulatory deadlines and quality standards.
You will lead horizon scanning and pharmacovigilance research and development activities, assess post-authorisation benefit-risk of pharmaceuticals and biological/immunological VMPs, and apply expert scientific and clinical veterinary judgement to interpret safety data and support regulatory decisions. You will maintain up-to-date expertise in legislation and scientific developments, represent the PhV team nationally and internationally, and contribute to wider government initiatives.
Additional responsibilities include conducting and peer reviewing complex pharmacovigilance assessments, developing and coordinating reporting and performance monitoring, and providing cross-cover support for other team leads. The role requires working within a complex scientific and legislative framework while incorporating innovative thinking to maintain the UK market appeal of veterinary medicines and foster international collaboration.
