Location
Hybrid, with office located in Central London (Zone 1). Typically working at least 2 days per week in the office, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays as core days.

Salary
£33,949 - £39,253 per annum, dependent upon experience.

The Aldersgate Group is a politically impartial, multi-stakeholder alliance advocating for effective climate and environmental action to support a growing, environmentally sustainable UK economy. Our members include leading businesses, NGOs, professional institutes and academic institutions. We conduct research, publish policy reports, hold roundtables and public events, and engage closely with decision-makers to accelerate progress on climate and environment as part of a growing economy.
The Policy Officer will support policy creation and development, delivering real policy impact at the heart of Whitehall and Westminster. Working within a supportive and engaged team, you will collaborate closely with Aldersgate Group members and work across the Group’s policy remit, with a particular focus on energy and green finance policy. This role offers flexibility to shape your responsibilities according to your strengths and interests, providing a unique opportunity to develop expertise, build influence, and contribute to high-profile policy debates at a critical moment for the UK’s economic and environmental future.
Reporting to the Head of Policy, you will contribute to the policy team’s work programme and support the Secretariat’s governance and administration. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining an excellent understanding of UK policy issues, producing high-quality policy reports and briefings, responding to parliamentary inquiries and government consultations, preparing for meetings and events, representing the Group externally, and building strong relationships with policymakers and members. You will also assist with organising workshops and events, managing member relationships, and handling information requests.

Experience
- Experience working in a professional policy or research role, with strong analytical skills and a track record of high-quality work.
- Understanding of key UK energy and environmental policy issues, with a demonstrable interest in the net zero transition and business decision-making.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to communicate effectively and creatively to different audiences and build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, capable of managing competing priorities with attention to detail.
- Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills, confident and highly motivated team player, flexible and adaptable.
- Core values aligned to the Group and a genuine interest in its mission.
Desirable
- Working experience or knowledge of relevant technical policy areas such as energy systems, low-carbon technologies, economics, or green finance.
- Quantitative research skills, including experience working with data and producing clear and accessible analysis or visualisations.
