About the Role
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Sustainable Chemistry and Materials to work under the supervision of Professor Ji-Seon Kim and James Durrant for a period of up to 6 months. This position is funded by the Department of Chemistry, Oxford University, aligned with its Strategic Research Funding in Sustainable Energy. The project involves developing high performance photovoltaic (PV) devices using perovskite photoactive materials. The post will be based on-site at the Department of Chemistry and is available from January 2026. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities, including small scale project management to coordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will also contribute significantly to the supervision of research students, support proposal writing, and assist with the management of external collaborations.

Requirements

Experience
Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or a related subject area (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. Experience in the fabrication and in-depth analysis of perovskite PV devices is essential. This includes expertise in energetics spectroscopy techniques such as Ambient Pressure Spectroscopy (APS) and Surface Photovoltage (SPV), as well as vibrational spectroscopy methods like Raman spectroscopy.

You will be an independent researcher capable of managing your own projects and administrative duties. You should be able to work well as part of a team and demonstrate strong communication skills to contribute effectively to student supervision, proposal writing, and collaboration management.

Qualifications
A PhD (or near completion) in Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline is required for this role.
