About the Role

As Principal Consultant, Marine Consents within GHD Advisory, you will lead and grow UK-based consultancy services while contributing globally to offshore wind and marine infrastructure projects. This senior role involves directing complex environmental approvals for major offshore infrastructure developments, including offshore wind, providing strategic advice, leading a growing team, and collaborating across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. You will shape sustainable offshore development by delivering marine EIAs, consents, and permitting strategies, mentoring staff, managing bids and proposals, fostering client relationships, and representing GHD at industry events. You will also integrate environmental considerations into project design and oversee the production of high-quality reports and communications. Staying abreast of regulatory developments and emerging trends, you will contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in marine environmental consulting.

Experience
- Minimum 10 years in marine environmental consulting, with strong expertise in offshore wind and marine sectors.
- Proven track record delivering environmental impact assessments and permitting projects, ideally including UK Development Consent Order (DCO) applications or equivalents.
- Deep knowledge of UK environmental regulations; international marine consenting experience is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with environmental and social risk frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams with strong people management and mentorship skills.
- Strong business acumen with experience in project delivery, client growth, and proposal development.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to influence, negotiate, and build consensus across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Skilled in technical writing, data analysis, and regulatory engagement, with the ability to simplify complex issues into actionable strategies.
