As Principal Consultant - Marine Consents within GHD Advisory, you will lead and grow UK-based consultancy services while contributing globally to offshore wind and marine infrastructure projects. This high-impact role involves directing complex environmental approvals for major offshore infrastructure projects, including the rapidly evolving offshore wind sector. You will provide strategic advice, lead a growing team, and collaborate with colleagues and clients across EMEA, APAC, and the Americas. This is an opportunity to work at the cutting edge of marine environmental consulting and elevate GHD’s presence as a trusted advisor in the offshore industry.

Key responsibilities include leading marine EIAs, consents, and permitting strategies for offshore developments in UK and European waters; serving as a technical advisor on complex environmental projects internationally; mentoring and developing a high-performing team; guiding strategic bids and proposals; fostering long-term client relationships; representing GHD at industry events; integrating environmental considerations into project design; overseeing high-quality reporting; and staying informed on emerging trends and regulatory developments.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 10 years in marine environmental consulting, with strong expertise in offshore wind and marine sectors
- Proven success delivering environmental impact assessments and permitting projects, ideally including UK DCO applications or equivalents
- Deep understanding of UK environmental regulations and international marine consenting experience
- Familiarity with environmental and social risk frameworks such as IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams with strong people management and mentorship skills
- Strong business acumen with a track record of successful project delivery, client growth, and proposal development
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to influence, negotiate, and build consensus across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Skilled in technical writing, data analysis, and regulatory engagement

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Sciences, Marine Science, or a related discipline.
