About the Role
Bletchley Park is a vibrant heritage attraction open daily, revealing the secrets of British World War Two codebreaking operations. The Project Beacon Conservation Officer will join the Collections team to support the delivery of Project Beacon, a major capital project including two new permanent exhibitions and the redevelopment of Block B into accessible galleries. Reporting to the Curator and working closely with the Site Works team and external contractors, the officer will ensure conservation is embedded throughout the project. Acting as the project’s heritage conscience, the role involves advising on the heritage considerations of Block B, its fabric, features, and immediate landscape. The officer will be present onsite throughout the basebuild and installation periods, supporting build teams while ensuring the historic site's significance is understood, recorded, and interpreted. This role requires working on an active construction site, occasional work at height, and lifting and carrying items. The contract is fixed term until the end of April 2028 and is based onsite at Bletchley Park. Benefits include 33 days annual leave (including statutory holidays), access to a BUPA Cash Plan and Employee Assistance Scheme, six complimentary entry passes per year after six months’ service, a day’s leave to celebrate your birthday after twelve months’ service, and staff social and wellbeing events.

Experience relevant to conservation within heritage or museum environments is desirable. Ability to work on active construction sites and liaise with contractors is essential.

About you
You will be a proactive and knowledgeable advocate for heritage conservation, able to balance competing priorities including conservation, programme, budget, progress, and quality. Flexibility to work varied hours and occasional weekends is important. You should be comfortable working at height and undertaking physical tasks such as lifting and carrying.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in conservation, heritage management, or a related discipline are preferred. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk is required. You should share the organisation’s commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion and be able to work effectively within a diverse team.
