About the Role
Are you an experienced project manager with a passion for delivering nature recovery, protecting natural and cultural heritage, and engaging more people with nature? We are seeking a Project Manager to lead the development of our new "Building the Foundations for ‘Corridor Connections’" project. This initiative will create and deliver a long-term, large-scale landscape connection programme across the White Peak. This unique opportunity involves connecting people to the natural and cultural heritage of the area using existing trails formed from old railway lines. You will lead the development of a groundbreaking National Lottery Heritage funded project within the Peak District National Park.
The role involves building knowledge and understanding of land and species condition within the area to enable strong evidence-based decisions on where and how to have the most impact. You will identify and grow partnerships across the White Peak, consolidate and expand collective knowledge, skills and experience, explore potential green-career pathways, and bring together communities—including underserved groups—landowners, businesses, and farmers to create a future large-scale transformational landscape connection bid and subsequent programme.
This role reports to the Head of Landscape & Engagement and works closely with Authority specialists and key partners.
Experience
Proven experience in project management including planning, delivery, finance, monitoring and evaluation, securing funding, and managing staff, volunteers, and contractors.
About you
Strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to lead, work with, and inspire multiple stakeholders including statutory bodies, NGOs, communities, and other groups. Knowledge of conservation, ecosystem services, countryside access, and the interaction between recreation, land management, and conservation is essential. A passion for protecting and promoting the Peak District landscape is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Not explicitly stated, but relevant qualifications in project management, conservation, or related fields would be advantageous.
