About the Role
We are seeking a Nature Projects Delivery Manager to join the Environment Team at the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA). Our natural environment programme has expanded significantly, including initiatives such as the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) and the Nature Investment Hub. This role is central to delivering these projects by providing leadership, structure, and momentum. You will collaborate with a wide range of partners to secure investment, drive collaboration, and ensure that nature recovery efforts are coordinated, impactful, and well-governed. Key responsibilities include leading delivery mechanisms for nature recovery projects, coordinating the project pipeline to ensure initiatives are investment-ready, building strong relationships with local authorities and environmental organisations, managing funding and budgets, supporting the development of nature markets, line managing the Nature Projects Delivery Officer, and reporting impact to stakeholders and funders. This is a three-year fixed-term contract role.

Experience
- Proven experience leading environmental or nature-based projects from concept to delivery.
- Experience working across diverse stakeholders and sectors including local authorities, NGOs, or arm’s-length bodies.
- Strong understanding of natural capital, ecosystem services, and/or nature finance.
- Skilled in project planning, coordination, and delivery.
- Experience managing people or resources within a project environment.
- Competent in report writing, budget management, and working with data and KPIs.
- Confident communicator able to build trust and represent WMCA at regional and national forums.

You are a motivated and collaborative professional with strong technical environmental knowledge combined with excellent project management and interpersonal skills. You are passionate about nature recovery and able to work effectively with a wide range of partners to deliver impactful outcomes.

Qualifications
Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 Foundation) or equivalent experience is required.
Proof of Right to Work in the UK is mandatory before employment can be confirmed.
