About the Role
As the Project Officer for Active Journeys, Schools, you will work directly with schools and local communities across West Sussex to transform streets and public spaces into safer, more welcoming environments that encourage walking, wheeling, and cycling. You will plan and deliver behaviour change projects and activities that promote active travel within schools and communities. Building strong, effective relationships with local leaders, authorities, and key stakeholders will be essential. You will also supervise and mentor colleagues and volunteers involved in project delivery. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys planning and delivering engaging activity sessions with children and young people, helping to improve health, wellbeing, and the environment through active travel initiatives.
Contract
Fixed term until 31 March 2027
Experience
- Proven experience managing small, clearly defined projects or delivering work packages as part of a project.
- Experience planning and delivering activity sessions, preferably with children and young people.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse audiences and adapt your approach.
- Experience motivating and mentoring others while building strong, positive working relationships.
- Willingness to learn and share practical skills such as bike maintenance.
- Ability to travel and work at various locations as required.
