Location
Positions are based across Scotland in the following regions: North East Scotland (Climate Action Hub in Aberdeen and/or Moray and Angus), South East and Central Scotland (Climate Action Hubs in Edinburgh, the Lothians or Fife), and Strathclyde (Climate Action Hubs in Glasgow or neighbouring local authorities including West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Inverclyde). Candidates are expected to work at least two days per week within agreed climate action hubs. Remote working or alternative office/co-working spaces are available on other days.

Hours
Flexible part-time or full-time hours available (minimum 28 hours up to 35 hours per week). We are open to secondments.

Salary
£31,237 per annum (pro rata) for Project Officer
£27,401 per annum (pro rata) for Assistant Project Officer

About the Role
Community Energy Scotland is recruiting three to four Project Officers or Assistant Project Officers to build the capacity of community groups within their allocated regions to develop sustainable community energy projects. You will work collaboratively with other Project Officers and draw on support from expert teams within Community Energy Scotland and its partners. Your role will involve proactive outreach, providing tailored support and advice, delivering workshops, and facilitating community engagement to help groups identify and progress energy projects. You will assist with hosting consultation events, conducting early stage options appraisals, coordinating peer support, and supporting funding applications. Regular travel within your region and occasional travel across Scotland will be required, with a focus on minimizing carbon footprint in line with organisational environmental policies. This is a fixed-term appointment until 31st March 2026, with a possible one-year extension subject to funding confirmation.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in community engagement, project delivery, or sustainable energy is desirable but not mandatory. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. Experience in delivering workshops and presentations is advantageous.

You are proactive, motivated, and passionate about supporting community-led sustainable energy initiatives. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with community groups and stakeholders. You are flexible and adaptable, comfortable with travel and remote working arrangements. Commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing carbon footprint is important.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required; however, relevant experience or education in community development, environmental studies, energy, or related fields will be beneficial.
