About the Role
Devon County Council is seeking a motivated Public Rights of Way Warden to take a lead role in the day-to-day management and maintenance of the public rights of way, unclassified county roads, and countryside access network, primarily in the northern part of the County. Based at South Molton, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing one of the UK’s most popular and well-regarded recreational trail networks, which includes over 5000 km of paths. This role contributes to encouraging health and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and economic vitality across Devon.

You will coordinate maintenance and improvement works, conduct path inspections and surveys, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and liaise with landowners, interest groups, town and parish councils, and contractors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for the outdoors and countryside access management to make a positive impact within the community.

Experience
Educated to degree level and/or with substantive work-based training and experience in countryside, access, and land management. Good working knowledge of relevant legislation, associated powers, and duties is essential.

Qualifications
Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject or substantial relevant work experience. Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English is required. UK Right to Work is essential; visa sponsorship is not available.
