About the Role
Help shape Hampshire’s natural spaces by joining the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership (BVCP) as a Ranger. This role offers a unique opportunity to work outdoors, protecting biodiversity and enhancing natural environments along the River Blackwater. You will be involved in practical conservation and land management tasks such as habitat management, vegetation clearance, path maintenance, and site improvements. The role includes supporting the planning and delivery of environmental and greenspace projects within urban settings, supervising volunteers, community groups, and contractors, and monitoring biodiversity and site conditions. You will maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles safely, engage with the public to promote responsible enjoyment of nature, assist with events and educational sessions, and ensure health and safety standards are upheld. Collaboration across teams and contribution to wider projects, including those with the North Sites Team and along the Basingstoke Canal, will also be part of your responsibilities. This is a physical, outdoor role that offers varied and rewarding challenges while making a genuine difference to local communities and Hampshire’s valued natural landscapes.

Experience
- Practical experience in countryside management, conservation, or a similar field
- Habitat management skills and confidence using tools and machinery
- Experience working with volunteers and community groups

- Good organisation, attention to detail, and IT skills
- Flexible, proactive, and a problem-solving mindset
