About the Role
Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure. Headquartered in Amsterdam and listed on Nasdaq (NBIS), Nebius has a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D. We are scaling fast and committed to an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
We are seeking a skilled Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to embed standards and capability that keep our expanding operations safe, compliant and sustainable. This role requires a proactive, credible specialist who takes ownership of EHS delivery on the ground — translating strategy into practical action, acting as a trusted voice of EHS with site and regional teams, and providing guidance, challenge and support when it matters most.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape how EHS operates as Nebius scales. You will have real autonomy to set priorities, build capability across your sites, and influence decisions at site and regional levels — supported by senior stakeholders and a growing global EHS function. You will be accountable for the quality, consistency and culture of EHS across your sites — working through others, upholding standards, and stepping in personally when situations demand calm, experienced judgement under pressure. Above all, you will help make sound EHS practice a source of competitive advantage for Nebius, not just a compliance exercise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and implement the site EHS plan, turning policy and legislation into clear priorities and controls.
- Bring the global EHS strategy to life in everyday site work, ensuring teams are supported and equipped to advance site EHS performance.
- Lead by example with site teams and contractors, setting expectations and building capability for safe outcomes.
- Manage EHS relationships with site and regional stakeholders, advising on risk and holding them accountable.
- Support site assurance programmes including audits, inspections, and quality of risk assessments and controls.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, fostering a learning culture and reporting with composure under pressure.
- Apply and uphold standards for construction, commissioning, operations, decommissioning and other high-risk activities.
- Own the site EHS performance narrative, turning data into insights that drive decisions and accountable action plans.
- Support environmental and sustainability agendas on site, partnering with specialist teams.
- Represent Nebius locally with regulators, contractors and partners, protecting its EHS credibility.
- Champion Nebius’s culture and values, embedding EHS as core to site operations.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ Environmental, Health & Safety experience or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of country legislation with proven ability to translate it into practical, workable controls.
- Proven experience leading incident response and investigations, including high-pressure situations.
- Experience building trust and credibility with stakeholders at all levels.
- Preferred 5+ years’ experience including international or multi-site regulatory environments.
- Experience in data centres, critical infrastructure, construction, engineering, commissioning or other high-risk environments.
- Experience supporting budgets or resourcing across multiple sites is advantageous.
About you
- Credible, proactive and people-focused with a genuine coaching and mentoring mindset.
- Able to go deep on technical detail and bring expertise into stakeholder conversations.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, balancing risk, workload and pace.
- Excellent communication skills with confidence to advise, challenge constructively and bring fresh ideas.
- Continuous-improvement mindset with appetite to grow within a scaling function.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma / Certificate level, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related field, or equivalent.
- Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, NCRQ, GradIOSH, CMIOSH or equivalent are preferred.
