About the Role
Regional Flood and Coastal Committees (RFCCs) are independent bodies that play a vital role in reducing the risk of flooding and coastal erosion and their impact on communities across England. Working closely with the Environment Agency, RFCCs help people and wildlife adapt to climate change by managing risks such as flooding, drought, sea level rise, and coastal erosion. As an independent member of your local RFCC, you will help manage flood and coastal risk in your area, giving a voice to local communities and supporting their resilience against climate change challenges. Your responsibilities will include managing flood and coastal risk across your region, approving projects and programmes that protect homes and livelihoods, and developing local partnerships that fund, build, and manage these initiatives. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to influence important local issues, make a real difference to people’s lives and the environment, gain new skills, and expand your professional network. You will receive briefing packs before each meeting to help you prepare and contribute effectively.
