About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Regional HSE Advisor to join Galliford Try within our Specialist Services Business. You will promote a positive HS&E culture aligned with Galliford Try's Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviours programme and business leadership ambitions. Your role will involve collaborating with design, engineering and delivery teams on all HS&E matters affecting projects, attending Pre-Construction meetings to support risk reduction, and assisting with the pre-qualification and onboarding of subcontractors. You will contribute to the development and review of Construction Phase Plans and associated documentation, provide technical and specialist guidance to line and site management, and assist in process mapping and improvement plans.
Key responsibilities include undertaking SSER inspections, monitoring site compliance with statutory HS&E responsibilities and business management systems, supporting internal and external audits (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001), leading HS&E incident investigations, managing incident reports via the ActiveSHEQ system, and delivering HS&E training and inductions. You will also contribute to management and statistical reporting, attend progress meetings, and escalate any HS&E concerns to senior management.
This role supports all Specialist Services Business Units including Digital Infrastructure, Asset Intelligence, Oak Specialist Services, and Facilities Management. You will work closely with Lead Advisors and business units to influence and manage HS&E activities operationally and support systems and process development. This is a dynamic role requiring a broad range of competencies and an agile approach to ensure full divisional support. Additional duties may apply for Advisors appointed to Frameworks or Joint Ventures.
Experience
- Relevant HS&E experience in a similar industry.
- Working knowledge of Galliford Try standards and supporting documents.
- Specialist knowledge in areas such as Water, Highways, or Piling is advantageous.
- Proficient user of the ActiveSHEQ database.
- Experience in conducting internal and external audits (ISO 45001 / ISO 14001).
- Incident investigation and regulatory body liaison experience.
- Ability to travel and support multiple business units and projects.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (essential).
- Member of IOSH (TechIOSH minimum) or IIRSM (essential).
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Desirable: GradIOSH or CMIOSH / Working Towards Level 6 Diploma - NCRQ or NEBOSH.
- Appropriate CSCS card, e.g. Professional Status Card (desirable).
