About the Role
This post is funded by the Wellcome Trust as part of the Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa (CLARITY-Africa) Programme. The role focuses on assessing heat exposure and associated health impacts in outdoor workers in Ghana and Rwanda. It aims to evaluate climate-related equitable and sustainable adaptation measures to mitigate the health impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations in Sub-Saharan African cities.
You will plan and undertake environmental and physiological measurement campaigns in outdoor workers in Accra and Kigali to assess heat exposure and biological and cognitive responses. You will develop and administer questionnaires to collect exposure, outcome, and contextual information and conduct appropriate statistical analyses. The role involves managing, curating, cleaning, analysing, and presenting high-dimensional data related to environmental health. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and delivery of knowledge co-creation workshops in Ghana and Accra.

Experience
- PhD in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health, Environmental Epidemiology, Biomedical Sciences or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience.
- Experience developing own research projects related to environmental exposures and health.
- Practical experience conducting research in occupational settings.
- Experience communicating effectively with study participants, stakeholders, and sponsors.

Qualifications
