Research Support Officer


Location
Ideally based at the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) Northern Ireland office in Lisburn with hybrid working available. Training will take place at BTO in Thetford, Norfolk, England.
Hours
Part time to full time, 3-5 days per week. Fixed term contract until 29 March 2029 (subject to project requirements, may end sooner or be extended).
Salary
£32,637 per annum (pro rata) plus 11% employer pension contribution.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and skilled individual to join our Research Support Team. This team facilitates the acquisition and delivery of scientific research projects by supporting and administering tenders and contracts, and by providing a project management system used to manage all project-based science work, including grant and donation-funded projects. The postholder will primarily administer a specific EU funding grant, "A Changing Climate Impact Monitoring and Assessment Toolbox for Irish Seas (ACCLIMATISE)", funded under PEACEPLUS and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), working 3 days per week on this project. The role involves collaboration with other Research Support Officers and Administrators and reports to the Head of the Research Support Team. For candidates applying for 5 days per week, the role requires the ability to read, review, and compare lengthy contract documentation and previous experience in writing and reading contracts and proposals is desirable. The position offers flexible start and finish times and hybrid working arrangements to support a good work-life balance.

Experience
Previous experience in reading and writing contracts and proposals is desirable, especially for full-time applicants. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage project administration effectively.
