About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and skilled individual to join our Research Support Team. This team facilitates the acquisition and delivery of scientific research projects by supporting and administering tenders and contracts, and by managing a project management system used for all project-based science work, including grant and donation-funded projects. This fixed-term position is currently expected to run until March 2029, with the possibility of an earlier end or extension depending on project needs.
The postholder will primarily administer a specific EU funding grant for three days a week: “A Changing Climate Impact Monitoring and Assessment Toolbox for Irish Seas (ACCLIMATISE)”, funded under PEACEPLUS and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). The role involves working alongside other Research Support Officers and Administrators, reporting to the Head of the Research Support Team.
Applicants interested in working five days a week should have experience reading and reviewing lengthy contract documentation and previous experience in writing or reviewing contracts and proposals.
The role offers hybrid working from the Lisburn office, with the flexibility to work from home part of the time. Training on BTO systems will be provided at the Thetford office in Norfolk.
BTO is committed to securing the future for birds and nature through strong, objective science and partnerships. We strive to work sustainably and inclusively, inspiring others with the wonder of birds and empowering them to take action.
Experience
Experience in reading and reviewing contracts and proposals is desirable, especially for full-time applicants. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage project administration effectively are essential.
About you
You will be highly organised, skilled in administration, and able to work collaboratively within a team. Flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are important. You should be comfortable working with complex documentation and have a proactive approach to problem-solving.
We welcome applicants who value inclusivity, sustainability, and evidence-led work, and who are motivated to contribute positively to environmental science and conservation.
