The successful candidate will work alongside other ecologists, environmentalists and geoscientists to deliver ecological based appraisals as standalone deliverables or integrated into wider site development and planning support work. Key responsibilities include contributing to environmental impact assessments and development consent order projects, leading site visits, ecological surveys and marine ecology, and liaising with client project managers. You will lead the production of screening and scoping reports to support planning applications and develop a reputation within the sector by creating innovative methods of impact assessment for terrestrial, marine, coastal, and ecological impacts. You will also develop best available techniques for environmental assessments considering climate resilience, emissions, noise, biodiversity, water discharges, and heritage.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in leading or significantly contributing to the preparation of ecological surveys, Habitat Regulations Assessments (HRA), and environmental impact assessments for new developments and operational permitting applications.

About you
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle challenges. Willingness to travel on business as required, including visits to overseas sites. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and develop innovative environmental assessment methods.

Qualifications
Qualification background in ecology, zoology, botany, marine sciences or equivalent. Chartered ecologist, environmentalist, or scientist preferred. Recent postgraduates with relevant experience will also be considered.

Desirable Criteria
Knowledge of air quality management, noise abatement policy and legislation, or dispersion modelling methodologies for terrestrial and/or marine environments. Licensed bat ecologist with experience leading bat surveys, including preliminary roost assessments and dusk/dawn surveys, in line with current UK best practice and legislation.
