About the Role
The Senior Economist will play a pivotal role within the Economics Team in Shell’s Strategy Insights and Scenarios department, reporting to the Chief Economist. The team provides macroeconomic, energy, and policy economics advice to keep Senior Executives, businesses, and functions informed on the latest economic developments and their implications for Shell. This role supports longer-term strategy development and Shell scenario thinking.

Key responsibilities include assessing and analysing the interlinkages between energy and the economy, monitoring the impact of energy transition and industrial policies on global competitiveness, trade, and finance, and understanding the links between financial markets and the real economy in the context of geo-economic fragmentation, public debt sustainability, climate risks, and energy transition finance.

The Senior Economist will conduct rigorous economic research to support scenario development, collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate economic insights into broader scenario narratives, present findings to senior management and external stakeholders, and represent Shell at industry conferences and events.
