About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Landscape Architect with a strong design sensibility, technical expertise, and hands-on experience in site supervision to join our London Studio. The successful candidate will play a central role in shaping and delivering high-quality landscape projects, from concept design through to construction, ensuring that design intent is realised on site. Working closely with colleagues across landscape, urban design, and architecture, you will lead design, technical coordination, oversee site delivery, and mentor junior team members. This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating outstanding landscapes, while bridging the connection between design, technology, and practical execution.

Key Activities
- Leading and contributing to landscape projects from concept through to technical delivery and construction
- Developing compelling design ideas and communicating them clearly through drawings, visualisations and presentations
- Producing high-quality graphic and technical outputs across a range of project stages
- Coordinating with clients, consultants and contractors
- Supporting project management, tender information and on-site delivery
- Guiding assistants and mentoring junior members of staff
- Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams on UK and international projects
- Contributing to studio-wide thinking around innovation, workflow and design quality

Design, Digital and Innovation
At Gillespies, we are increasingly interested in how emerging technologies can support better design thinking, stronger communication and more efficient delivery. We particularly welcome candidates who are curious about or experienced in:
- AI-assisted workflows to support research, idea generation, visual exploration and drafting
- Digital tools for visualisation, concept testing and design communication
- The integration of technology into design development and project delivery
- Sharing knowledge and helping develop smarter, more effective studio working methods

Requirements

Experience
- A minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in landscape architecture
- UK practice experience across relevant project stages
- Experience delivering projects through planning, tender and/or construction stages
- Portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual design ability, creative thinking, and work ranging from early concept sketches to technical details and built projects

About you
- Passionate about creating outstanding landscapes and bridging design with practical execution
- Ability to lead complex projects and manage design packages with confidence
- Experience directing assistants and mentoring junior team members
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Collaborative mindset, positive attitude and commitment to design quality
- Interest in innovation, digital tools and evolving design methods
- Clear and confident communication skills with clients, consultants and internal teams

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and Postgraduate Diploma / MA in Landscape Architecture
- CMLI membership is desirable but not essential; equivalent overseas qualifications will also be considered
